Great photo drone for the price

I wanted to get into aerial photography and 4K videography and this drone was a great place to start. The GPS subsystem seems to work well, and combined with the ultrasonic and optical sensors on the underside, this drone hovered as stable as anything I've seen. The 3-axis gimbal delivers smooth, solid video, so far I haven't noticed any "jelly". You can use a 'latest model' smartphone or tablet to launch the Fimi app which provides telemetry and FPV. I say "recently" because it requires some serious video processing to process the FPV stream. When I tried to use an older iPad, the video buffered and the FPV had terrible lag. My Android phone worked slightly better, but the lag was still annoying. When I upgraded to the latest iPad Mini (with a faster processor), FPV worked great. There was still some latency, but it was small enough for a non-racing drone to live with. I've only flown this drone a dozen times so far and haven't had the courage to test the limits; they advertise 8km unhindered. I flew it about 300 feet high and about 700 feet with no noticeable loss of video or controller signal performance. At this distance, flying behind large trees, I saw the video signal strength drop, but the video did not come off and the control signal strength remained high. The "back home" function worked every time I tried it. Although RTH is not required, I bought one of those Home "H" landing pads. In RTH mode, the drone approaches the target using GPS, then sees the target about 10 feet off the ground and adjusts to land squarely on center even in windy conditions. It doesn't seem like a big deal, but it's a really nice feature when you're out on foot and the ground is covered in dust, mud, or snow. Please note that all 3-axis stabilizers are thin and precise devices; I recommend adding a protective gimbal case from the fimi shop.
