I got this new scratching post because my cat went through the scratches on her old scratching post. Assembly wasn't exactly difficult, but it was a little awkward lining up all the pieces and twisting them together. This is because you are building it from the top down and eventually everything is assembled but you have to screw everything to the base plate. It was very difficult for me to do this and I think it would be difficult for any person to do it alone. I ended up disassembling it and reassembling it from the bottom up to make it more convenient. It looks very nice and smooth, so the next test was that my cat really liked it. Compared to her old scratching post with a scratching post, she almost doesn't like the scratching posts on this tree. This makes her scratch the sofa a lot more. I think scrapers are made of a material that makes it difficult for her to scratch, so she doesn't like it very much. All in all, I'm a little disappointed with this product.
