I bought a refractometer to check vegetables in the garden. The refractometer comes with a nice zippered case, an instruction manual, a small screwdriver to zero the instrument and a small plastic siphon. I took some distilled water and set the RF15 to zero Brix with a screwdriver (it was off by 1/10 Brix which wouldn't make much of a difference for my use and could be caused by temperature differences). The RF15 has an eyepiece setting that allows me to focus until the brix is clear. I tested a store-bought apple and found it slightly above average. I then tested one of my strawberries from a pot that I didn't take particularly good care of and the result was below average. I can't wait to see my tomatoes when they're ripe! The quality of workmanship corresponds to the price. I expect many years of testing from this device. This is accurate enough to test Brix to within a tenth of Brix.
