Like other reviewers, we found this to work well in a Mid 2012 MacBook Pro (MBP) despite Apple's claim that this System has a maximum configuration of 8GB (4GB x 2). After installation, powering on was a little slower than usual, but we attributed this to the Mac recognizing the new memory configuration. The system renders 16GB accurately and my college son (owner) says he immediately saw a very noticeable difference using Adobe After Effects. I'm not sure why Apple limited this particular model to 8GB. Rumors range from "planned obsolescence to encourage resale of the system" to problems with a bus that simply won't support additional heat or transport capacity. We hazard the latter not being the case and haven't seen any issues so far. Had we not upgraded, we felt the system would have become obsolete and therefore worth the risk. Very easy and quick update. First, make sure you are static free and well grounded. Unscrew the 10 tiny screws on the back of the MBP (be careful not to drop them as they are really "tiny" and you cannot retrieve a dropped screw), disconnect the battery, unplug the existing ones Remove and insert new cards, replace battery, replace cover and screws. We were at the exit within 10 minutes. Can be done in 5 minutes if you work fast. The only tool you will need is a very small Phillips head (available at any hardware store, Walmart, etc.).
