I tried to use them several times during the holidays, virtual cocktails and long-distance visits on deck with drinks and a special bottle of trendy whiskey to taste. My daughter was very excited as she loves making fancy "imaginary" drinks and couldn't wait to try the molds. After a few initial tries, I couldn't get the ice cubes loose. This was repeated over and over again. The shape of the sphere was complex but possible. The square shape was IMPOSSIBLE and very frustrating when entertaining co-host guests and having to use our regular ice cubes during our online virtual event. Soft silicone does NOT help with demoulding. The hot water finally helps after almost 1/4 of the ice has melted and it took so long it was a shame to try and entertain and serve. The cube shape would have been better if it was hard plastic because then I could at least rotate it and push the cubes out. They also had a terrible plastic smell, I think that will go away with time. Luckily I was able to get her back. While I could be wrong, I've made ice cream thousands of times and have never had a problem like this.
