This worked for me. for computers and accessories

"For me" applies here. The "right" adapter depends on your specific setup. I have a Roku 2 XS and I often visit a friend who only has a VGA monitor in the room I live in. I needed something compact (no external boxes or power supply) that would work. This option also eliminates the need for additional HDMI or VGA cables. The older Roku's specs were vague on HDMI port performance. Live chat with a Roku "rep" didn't help much. However, she consulted a Roku engineer who recommended a Roku 2.5A power supply for this application. That was the clue I needed. Electricity was probably available but limited. According to the CH7101A specification, the cable should draw less than 200mA (0.2A) at the highest resolution of 1080p. Both the Roku and the chip are said to use less power at lower resolutions. I took a risk Everything works fine on the Roku at 720p and the original 1.5A PSU. Both work fine and the temperature rise on the Roku (secret screen reported) was less than 5 degrees C. I can't report 1080p as the monitor this does. t supports the required VGA resolution. 720p produces a clean image on the monitor. Be careful: not all converters deliver analog audio. Although the CH7101A offers audio conversion, this cable does not use this feature. Some converters offer LPCM (Linear Pulse Code Modulation), which is not analog audio. I'm using the existing analog cable that came with Roku for analog audio output (audio works simultaneously with attached HDMI cable - only analog composite video is muted), so this wasn't an issue for me. But the cable is fine. built, provides a clean image on the monitor and works great - for me.
