Arrived with a dent on the top (but was reduced in price as a 'second life item'). I followed the instructions for the letter "T" - I used diapers on the grill and tray. I also added a thin layer of water to the pan. I ran my burner and it got 218/219 in the first 20 minutes. There was a thin layer of smoke on the sides, but that was normal. But then I cranked the burner to medium to hit 221 in 40 minutes. The wood chips caught fire and my kitchen filled with smoke. So, keep your burners low and on 219! Regardless, the chicken was well smoked with a strong hickory flavor (although I probably used 2 teaspoons rather than a tablespoon of chips). So for the price I liked it. Yes, it was painful to clean and everything was burned, but it taught me to take the path slowly and slowly.
