5 months after buying these shoes and running/walking about 20 km/week a hole appeared in the thumb pocket (right shoe) and another hole in the adjacent toe. The right boot's new big toe had a crease that protruded into the adjuster, they rub against each other with use and hence the hole. Now I have to periodically pause the run to take off the right shoe and shake out the small pebbles. The top still looks almost new. They just don't last long, another issue is the underfoot protection as this is a trail shoe. Well, there is no protection from relatively small stones, say 1cm3, because the sole has no reinforcement and you feel that each stone is bigger than a pea. They are better for road, track, concrete or grass as I often get hit in the heels by small stones resulting in very painful heels. I don't hit my heel, the heel falls after I hit the ball. my feet and there's my heel, maybe a few millimeters off the ground, that's enough for a small rock to hit your heel and ruin your day, like my run today. You really need a heel plate and a scent plate under the ball of your foot. They wear well, don't smell like I'm wearing them with socks, feel great but are short lived and avoid the gravel/rock trails that make up most of my local trails. I look at these design flaws.
