Although no weight is included to calibrate, I actually already had one with my old scale and was able to use it here. It was also very easy to calibrate. I can fit in my bag but ours is in a drawer and it fits perfectly. It also doesn't take up much space. When it comes to weighing food or even various items for science experiments with children, it is very accurate. In fact, I prefer this manual scale because it's much more accurate than this one. If you have a read, it stays there until you delete it. Easy to wipe and clean. We just use napkins or a damp paper towel and that helps. Since it takes batteries I thought they would kill them quickly if we use them, but to my surprise we still use the same ones.
