no go for our cats - my new review

this chicken breast dinner (Jeopurrdy Licious) is a big no go with our diabetic cat and the 9 other cats i tried pawing it off to afterwards. smells good to me though so nothing wrong with food itself. Am thinking the slimy gel texture is just not for our cats and quite honestly something about it being so overly gelatin doesn't sit right with me either, seems there is way too much xanthan gum and locust gum used in these pates and giving 'cats' eating these ingredients regularly can cause gas/diarrhea/allergies in cats with sensitivity issues, i am kinda glad the cats do not like the "Jeopurrdy Licious" at all and barely like the "meal of fortune" version. The meal of fortune i could get my diabetic cat to eat IF i mixed it up well and added freeze-dried turkey powder topper or a few kibbles on top but, it took him hoursssss just to eat up a pouch. the other cats won't eat that one at all either.Still food is technically better than most ingredient wise overall but, maybe weruva should consider getting rid of their 'slide-n-serve' marketing pate their-way thing and lower the gel/thickening gums that are safe for dogs but, only 'assumed' safe for cats. serving up a healthier low carb pate for all cats is what one woud expect from weruva and coming out with pates that cause known gas, diarrhea and other allergens issues in cats is not a healthy pate to me in the end.

Pros
  • This is the only food my 20 year old male Bengal will eat. I like the fact that it is hydrating.
Cons
  • May not be as nutritious as other cat foods
