This is exactly what I've wanted for years. Many of the headphones that come with Apple iPods are completely useless. Timing and sound are mediocre at best. The ones offered by Bose are quite large and, judging by previous reviews, break all the time. So I've been using a bunch of old Sonys (outdoors) for years that are 20+ years old. The problem with them is that you can hear everything that's going on around you. That's why they're called open. I will not have an accident. But when you're in the Mall of America, the noisiest place on earth, it's almost impossible to hear the music on your player. So far they sound great and are so easy to set up. I like the customizable equalizer. which you can customize. Much better than configured in my Apple 128GB iPod. It's also nice to be able to pause, skip, control the volume, etc. when the IPOD is in your shirt pocket. Just this week I was actually able to give them a real full time job at the Minnesota State Fair and MOA. The level of noise cancellation is simply amazing. I have custom earplugs that I use all the time for motorcycling and loud performances. very clean and full dynamic sound. Today I was in the MOA for at least 2.5 hours and fully enjoyed my music player without any annoying noises. When I paused the player and turned off the noise cancellation, I was completely overwhelmed by all the noise around me. I see other people with so much attention getting full fledged noise canceling headphones that look downright ridiculous. not even noticeably I was able to listen to my iPod for at least 6-8 hours at the show before I had to charge my music player.
