I can’t tell you whether this thermometer performs well because it’s shipped with a dead battery. Most products that come with a battery installed (which I appreciate) come with a small piece of cellophane separating the battery from the product that you pull out when you receive the product. This did not, and as a result, it’s not going to be useful until I either go to a store and buy a battery or send the thermometer back and buy another one that’s packaged better. In addition, the instructions don’t tell you how to get to the battery or what battery the thermometer uses. Frustrating when you’ve got a sick pet (as I do) and discover all this when you go to use it for the first time.
