These stones are very beautiful but not polished to a shine, they are rubbed to a shine. I bought these to use in a small fountain and the wax on the rocks was a problem. I had to wash the stones and I will have to run clean water through the pump several times to get rid of the wax that has turned to lime. The seller must explain that these stones are not naturally shiny, they are just naturally smooth. I think using it as a vase fill will cause the same problem as using it in a fountain. I would buy them again but wouldn't use them again without first washing off the wax.
