Review on πŸ•οΈ Effortlessly Remove Tent Stakes with Camco 51058 Tent Stake Puller by Jamie Brown

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Great in theory, not great in practice

The price was low so I decided to try one of these on our trip to the beach this summer. We bought a new tent for our son and some of the stake points were stretchy so it wouldn't be safe to just grab the "rope" and pull to remove the stake. The bars we used were yellow 9 inch. They have a nice hole in the "head" so I figured this puller would slide right in and let you pull them out. But the hole is too small (or the puller is too big) so it didn't work. I found that there is a small indentation that you can reach a little if you push it towards the head of the stake, but it still doesn't work that well. In order to secure the posts in the best possible way, the head rests on the ground, so you cannot attach the puller under the hook on the pegs either. If the end was pointed it might work better, it's hard to tell. Eventually it bent slightly so that the puller handle and shaft are no longer parallel. This probably wouldn't have happened if I had pulled on the center or inside rather than the tip, which allowed more force to be applied to the metal's curves, which feels surprisingly strong. Next time I'll use a hammer. Claw and compare to decide which works best.

Pros
  • Comfortable grip
Cons
  • No performance
