I'm not one to buy a product without carefully considering the options. This SSD is no exception. I carefully researched other products in this category, embarked on an arduous journey to improve my state-of-the-art storage technology, and finally came to the conclusion which product I need to buy. I was looking for high capacity, fast OUTSIDE storage. I have a 2019 MacBook Pro with 256GB of storage. First I checked SATA based SSDs which are fast but not the fastest. I originally wanted to select the popular Samsung T5 SSD in this category. After some searching I found out that there are newer and faster NVME drives on the market. It was at this point that I learned that you can put an NVME drive, intended to go directly into a PC, into an enclosure to create an external drive. Although these external drives are not as fast as connecting directly to a computer, they can theoretically reach speeds in excess of 1000 Mbit/s, while SATA-based external hard drives theoretically hold speeds of around 500 Mbit/s. In an ideal world, Thunderbolt 3 cases, with their insane speeds, would be the standard my MacBook can use, but that's not currently possible unless you have deep pockets. I agreed that price wise I would have to use NVME or SATA. After learning more about Revain, I found that NVME and SATA drives are very similar in price, so I settled on NVME. Why would I buy a slower drive for the same price, right? After seeing rave reviews and a great price, I settled on the Sabrent Rocket 1TB NVME SSD and its external enclosure. However, I really wanted enclosures for NVME drives to be a bit smaller. I then went in search of smaller cases and that led me to look at other Sabrent products. That's how I came across this product. They have just been uploaded to their shop and I haven't seen anything quite like them in all my product research. When I saw how small this drive was on my computer screen, I couldn't believe it. It's smaller than any other SATA or NVME based drive I've personally seen. Seeing him in person impresses me even more. Portability is very important to me as I will need it on a daily basis due to Apple's terrible and expensive onboard storage options. It was very close to the price of the Sabrent Rocket + Enclosure but in a MUCH smaller package. This thing looks more like a large flash drive than a small SSD. It's that compact. hello is fast On my 2019 MacBook Pro, I consistently hit over 600Mbps on medium tasks, which is fantastic in the real world when it comes to external drives. Also, my MacBook recognizes the drive almost immediately after plugging it in. Pro Tip: Connect this product or any other SSD directly to your computer's USB-C port for full speed. A hub is now almost mandatory on the MacBook, and connecting to these hubs will severely limit transfer speeds. My only concern is that I couldn't find any detailed information on this drive in terms of its internals and potential lifespan, but I decided to make the jump anyway as other Sabrent products have been accepted. So far I'm very glad I did! Overall, I got a much smaller and faster drive for the same price as the other top competitors, and that's my win.
