Having just received my 5G iPod I searched the internet and several stores for a good case. I've heard a lot of horror stories about easily scratched cases and displays and wanted something tough enough to use for training, travel and work. Unfortunately, there weren't many options - some cases said they would work with the newer 30/60GB 5G models, but they were designed to work with older and larger iPods, so they're making compromises; they don't quite "fit" for my 5G. I found the Marware case to be a good fit as it fits very snugly and protects the iPod well. It easily converts for use with a belt clip or neoprene training band. There is also an optional hard cover for the front panel, which completely encloses the device. The main body covers the back, top, bottom, sides and part of the front. The front has a clear plastic cover over the wheel and display. The iPod is completely enclosed by the main body except for the headphone hole. You can access the HOLD switch by covering it with a case. Two small disadvantages -1. The case is VERY snug and the screen can be scratched easily - I recommend purchasing this clear plastic screen protector before placing your iPod in the case.2. There is no connection hole at the bottom, so you can't easily charge/sync your iPod without opening the cover. What I did So I took the exacto knife and made a small cutout so I could sync without removing the case. If you have a universal dock, just take out the Apple Dock designed for your iPod and it will fit perfectly. I also bought a Roadtrip 12V/FM charger and it fits there too, just remove any inserts/adapters that came with it. This case can be used in different environments and has a good design. I am confident that my iPod will be protected under "normal" use. I would recommend this to anyone with a new 5G model.
