Review on Lenovo Thinkpad Docking Station 40AH0135US by Minas Chase

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Home office essential

This device allows me to connect my ThinkPad T490 to a large screen dual monitor system to do legal work from my home office in the "safe house" era. My only real complaint is the lack of documentation on exactly how this is supposed to work; Trial and experimentation is the only way to find out. The laptop is snapped into the docking slots on the docking station, and then the assembly with the various connectors on the left is plugged into the corresponding connectors on the left side of the computer. The laptop stays pretty solid when it's powered on. At this point, the ports on the back of the docking station become active. These include 5 USB-A ports, two DisplayPort (not HDMI) monitor ports, an RJ-45 Ethernet port, a 1/8" audio jack, and a power connector for the included power adapter. I've been using it for about a month. now and I had no problems with it. Since my ThinkPad has an SSD and runs cool, I usually leave it on all the time and the display turns off after 30 minutes of inactivity. I particularly like the dual monitor support. I only work with documents, I don't play video games or edit movies, so I don't know if there are speed issues with monitors, but for my work it works very well. The real benefit, aside from having two monitors available, is the use of a "real" keyboard and mouse, not a laptop keyboard. This really makes this laptop as functional as a desktop computer. For those who make a living With working on documents earning a computer, that's a real performance boost.
