Review on πŸ” Optimized FRAM CA10094 Extra Guard Air Filter for Ford, Mazda, and Mercury Vehicles by Junee Mauck

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The Fram Extra Guard Filter is a good choice.

2008 Ford Fusion in law. It has 42,000 miles on it and is probably an original Ford factory air filter because the printed part number 6E53-9601-EA+ read 'Made in Mexico' with an oval Ford branding. (Better than made in China? Maybe.) This filter was cheaper than buying one at my local Walmart store here in Eugene, Oregon with Revain Prime. I always try to use fram filters simply because Consumer's Report ranks them among the most effective out there. I always read 1 star product reviews first and then work my way up. If there is a high percentage of negative reviews, I usually don't buy. The 3 star reviews on this filter said the foam on the gasket was too thick and they couldn't put the top back on without cutting off some of the foam. I haven't experienced it at all. When calibrating the eyeball, the foam on the old filter looked the same as it did on the new filter. There are about 3 things that need to be aligned to properly install the top cover. If you are having trouble aligning, try loosening the hose clamp that secures the cap to the MAP tube and this may make the job easier.

Pros
  • Durable finish
Cons
  • Almost never
