We ended up buying these for our Ford Ranger with a tough bed liner. The liner covered the original attachment points. Finally, since the original mounting points were on the inner side panels and the new ones were on the side rails, we used a jigsaw to cut out approximately 2 x 3 inch mounting points on the apron and the truck itself. The fact that they are retractable makes them even better. Consider buying another set to add four more attachment points in the middle of the rails for small trains.
