I bought this one because the previous one I ordered started smoking and went off the ADT alarm while I was using it so became I nervous and sent him back. But it was kind of a blessing in disguise. This is much quieter and dries the hair better. Even though it heats on the highest setting, the other one I have (I have it in my van) roasts my hair. This one does NOT. It leaves my hair smooth and silky and doesn't seem to frizz. I would highly recommend this item and would not hesitate to order another for myself or as a gift.
