Review on 🌡️ Accurate Oven Thermometer: 50-300°C/100-600°F, Stainless Steel Instant Read for Kitchen Cooking, Grill, Fry, Chef, and Smoker by Matt Chirila

I bought this thermometer to make sure the kiln temperature for firing clay was correct. I don't have a second thermometer to check accuracy, but according to this thermometer, at 425° the oven is actually 375°. The only problem with this thermometer is that the hook causes it to hang on its side making it difficult to read in the oven. Update: After using the oven several times with this thermometer (for food, mine is still clay), the thermometer burned out inside. Parts of the interior are completely burned. Useless. I changed my rating to one star. Also, in response to my feedback, the seller said I can rotate the hook so it hangs in the right direction. Not correct. The hook is a flat piece coming out of the thermometer, not a swirl; Turning it the other way would require tools I don't have and will likely cause the hook to come loose - not that it matters now that the gauge parts have burned out when cooking at normal temperatures in the oven. I didn't even have time to bake the clay. The seller is offering a gift for rating this item. The card in the box gives you four options to choose from, and they'll send the gift after they confirm you've written a review. I opted for a $5 Revain gift card and received my card. I assume they offer this "gift" because the device doesn't work.
