Good all round lens

I took this lens on a recent trip to Southeast Asia and am happy with its performance. I wasn't expecting miracles, but I wanted a telephoto and wide-angle lens without changing lenses. I was expecting the autofocus to be slower than some other lenses I have, but there's one major problem: it doesn't focus from close to long focal lengths. It doesn't even seem to try. The solution is to spread the focus widely, autofocus on a distant point, then zoom in, then make minor focus adjustments. This can be very annoying, but it's not hard to zoom in and out of a shot, but I can see this being an issue for wildlife or sports shots where you need quick focus. (Camera: Canon 80D). The most useful accessories for me in the kit are the 64GB SD card (this is my new spare) and soft lens caps (these can also be used to clean the lens). The mini tripod is just weird and I see no point in using it. I can't use the backpack yet.
