Beginner gimbal with small camcorder

I highly recommend this product. It's well made, there's nothing "cheap" about it. I use this stabilizer for therapeutic purposes. Sounds weird, really. In the morning, my Siberian Husky and I walk through the forest on our territory, and I pour my soul into a small Enverio JVC video camera. I would set up a tripod in front of the stabilizer and keep an eye on the dog as he explores the area while I gather my thoughts of the day. (slightly distracting) I wanted to be able to walk around and record without creating an inward enactment of motion sickness. Quality stabilizers are neither cost effective nor practical for my situation. I wanted a "small" solution. So I tried this Roxant Pro.1. Patience when building is an understatement. The Otis videos are helpful, but even as a college grad I had a "balance problem" and it took me about 2 hours to even it out, or at least very close to it. (Remember, I don't think it's Roxant Pro's fault, I'm sure I'll have a hard time with any stabilizer)2. If you plan on using the camera in other applications where you'll be turning the gimbal on and off a lot, for goodness sake label the gimbal in some way to remind you where you balanced everything so you don't re-balance have to balance. every time.3. I'm not sure if the gimbal is really meant to be used face to face for selfie videos as I use it because my hand sometimes gets in the way of the counterweight, but that doesn't bother me. I like that the stabilizer bar isn't too bulky. My Enverio JVC camcorder only weighs about 0.7 pounds. So it's beautiful, light and portable. I put it in my jacket pocket and set off. Of course, you can't do that with an attached stabilizer, but the Roxant only adds about two pounds. It doesn't sound like much, but walking through the woods like a Statue of Liberty, picking up yourself and your dog is a good shoulder workout. I think Roxant is a great company. Their customer support responds in a timely manner and is very helpful. I was able to use the extra gear screws in the gimbal handle to attach the gimbal to the tripod. Thank you Katy and Roxant! :-) Overall I feel this purchase was a bit "overkill" for my purposes and sometimes I just don't want to deal with the added burden of re-balancing a camcorder just for my morning walk, BUT that's not the point. I never have to reset the forearm, I just have to make sure I position the camcorder where I marked on the gimbal and I'm good to go. Well actually hiking. When I use the gimbal, the video recorded is INCREDIBLY different than if I just walked without it. I can happily jot down my thoughts and walk the trail with my dog without worrying about a disgusting staging when I review the footage later. Give Roxant a try. You will not be disappointed.
