Bought for an elderly mother with vision problems. We set it up for them - it was a little confusing but we finally figured it all out. She uses it by putting it right to her ear and listening to it multiple times. The voice comes out immediately after pressing the button and still holding the watch to her ear. It would be nice if there was a little intro or beat before the time announcement. It would also be nice to have a way to make it louder as many people with vision problems also have hearing problems.
