This is a much better product for walking an icy sidewalk or crossing a slippery parking lot than a yak truck style spiral grip. Small metal spikes provide a good grip and are quite durable. I also like that this model has a velcro strap at the top because if you're on a major incline the way the pressure is distributed can cause them to slip off without a strap. In everyday conditions, walking around the city in winter, belts are not needed. I would also advise against relying on them for serious winter hiking. I definitely recommend the Katula brand micro cleats for winter adventures, but they are about 5 times more expensive. For what they were designed for, this is a great buy.
