Easy Installation

After getting over $500 from my local ATV shop to install my plow, I decided to install it myself. The instructions were about 8 steps long, with pictures. I installed this item on a 2006 Suzuki Kingquad. Keep in mind that the pictures are fairly close-up and it can be confusing looking at the instructions and figuring out exactly which screw or screws they are showing to remove or loosen. However, the attitude is mainly based on common sense. Take your time and think about each step and it won't be difficult. The actual bracket is made of extra heavy steel. I was very impressed with its weight. The first thing you need to do is remove the bottom 4 bolts from the bumper to the frame. (You reuse 2 of these and replace the other 2 with the screws from the kit). Then unscrew the 2 screws at the top of the bumper. You will need to remove the top front plastic brush to access the top bumper bolts and loosen them. Do not remove, just pull back far enough to insert socket. Tilt the bumper, slide the bracket in, screw it to the flange that also holds the winch mounting plate and put the bumper back in its original position. DO NOT tighten all the screws until you have them all. Between the bracket and the bumper you need to insert 2 spacers (replacing the original bumper bolts with 2 longer ones) which were difficult to hook into the threads. I had to undo all the other screws again to get a little play, just enough to put the last one in. After that everything dragged on. The whole process took about an hour. You only need a few tools. Heads for 10, 12 and 13 mm. Elongation at least 3-4 cm across flats 13 mm. And a flat head screwdriver to pry some locking pins out of the lower brush guard. Light. The rest of the parts included in this kit bolt to the pushrod assembly. There are just a couple of quick attach pins to attach the plow assembly to the bracket and a couple of brackets to slide the assembly onto the tool-less quick attach bracket. The two outer, forward-facing edges of the bracket have a flared edge on the mounting bracket. . As I said, this is a very strong piece of steel, fastened with grade 8 bolts. I really like that those flared edges, made for easy insertion of the thrust tube assembly, have some pre-drilled holes for ? what ever ? This makes them ideal as anchor points when I attach cargo straps to the bed of a truck or trailer. also with mounted plow assembly. At first I thought the $100 I spent on the mount was a bit steep, but after seeing exactly what it's made of, I'm very happy with this Warn product, as well as everything else I've bought got from Warn.
