Good USB-C hub for your Macbook Pro 10 in 1

This is one of the first 10-in-1 USB-C hubs I bought. Basically, the main difference between your regular 8-in-1 and this one is that it basically adds a VGA port and a headphone/mic jack. Nowadays most don't need VGA, but people in offices and other places that still use old school projectors or meeting rooms where only VGA is available are forced to use it. around, so feels good. It's smaller than my iPhone X that sits next to it, a bit thinner than a regular deck of cards. Comes with 3x USB3 ports on one side, RJ45 and VGA on the end and A/M jack, MicroSD, SDCard slot, HDMI and USB-C power on the opposite side. All ports are working properly. Standard USB ports easily support an external DVD drive or a 3.5" hard drive in an external enclosure (even both at the same time). The MicroSD/SDCard slots are good too, they match my SD card specification exactly which I tested. RJ45 runs on gigabit and basically has gigabit read speeds from my server (around 118MB/s). Write speeds were slower but after some speed test sites I was able to get close to gigabit (I have gigabit fiber). C performance. This is a PD device. Now on my 2017 Macbook Pro 15" I only have 52W from my original 87W adapter. So note that if you use the 87W USB-C adapter it won't deliver the full 87W output from Apple. It'll still charge at 52W, it'll only be about 30% slower. The device itself also feels cooler than other USB-C devices, possibly due to the fact that it's slightly less in my example Watts consumed. Must test more to make sure there might be better internal heatsinks as well and one part is alloy based on all sides. My other has a plastic bottom. All in all a good USB-C for 10 different ports I see no need for anything else as it basically covers almost all common ports/devices.It's also cheaper than other USB-C hubs that cost around $100-$200 for the same ports.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Makes me nervous
