The refill instructions are pretty clear. I didn't buy it here because I couldn't find the other part I needed: the reset mechanism. Maybe they sell it here, but to save on shipping I bought everything directly from LaserTek. When I dumped the toner out of my TN-550 Starter, there was very little left. Maybe it should be to charge it properly to get to the developer wheel. The instructions say to throw away all the old toner so I was very disappointed at how much I wasted. To be honest you might have to do this as it's already charged, I'm not sure. But it says not to overflow, so they might do it to make sure you have the right amount in there, as overflowing can mess up the inside when printing. These Brother cartridges have an easy-to-remove plug for refilling, so it's a breeze. I will buy again but I want to find the mechanism here. If you already have a Brother OEM cartridge other than the one you bought the printer with, you don't need to buy the cartridge as it has one. You just need to reset its position as it tells the printer to adjust the toner load for the new cartridge. Otherwise, the printouts will be too dark and look like dirty printouts from an old copier.
