They are thin enough to still fully cover the laptop/Chromebooks. However, they are sticky enough to stay on the laptop throughout use as it is a sticker that can be removed if necessary. As our laptop usage has increased, it has become easier to quickly determine whether or not the camera is on in a meeting. I have installed these camera covers on my personal laptop and my kids laptops. As such, they're tough enough to withstand backpacking. I haven't had any problems and haven't had to replace any. :)
