This doesn't take a full day to put together - maybe an hour at most. We took ours a little longer to assemble just because the parts didn't match the "instructions" and I use the word "instructions" loosely. When assembling the plastic rails that hold the cage together (the vertical black plastic pieces for the corners that support the cage) make sure to ignore the instructions. You have to attract them with logic and they should slide off immediately. If you place them wrong, 1. don't let them move easily and 2. don't form a rectangle, it will be very wrong. The little black corner pieces that go into the bottom corners snap into place, but make sure you don't use the ones that go to the second floor of the base. If you do, they will fit, but the others will not fit on the second floor. On a positive note, the cage is really big and our ferrets seem to like it a lot. We only have 2 in it now (there will be another chick tomorrow) and I could see 5-6 living in it comfortably provided carpet sharks are allowed some free time in the cage. We have booked a house for a ferret so that will not be a problem. We will only use the cage for eating, drinking and sleeping. Otherwise the cage is open 24/7 unless I need to close it for cleaning. For those who complain about droppings in the corners without a tray, make sure you cover the entire floor area with blankets and place the tray on both tiers. I've never had ferrets poop on blankets, so that should be pretty effective (and I saved a lot of ferrets when I was younger in my life). Happy ferret!
