Fantastic consumer camera.

I won't bore you with the technical details because that's been covered by everyone else. Essentially, you get the best image quality for any consumer size and price point, manual features, fantastic active OIS, and a large hard drive that saves you big bucks compared to buying high-speed SD cards. A hard drive also saves you the hassle of constantly capturing video from your camera and then to your computer because you have free storage space. video quality? Big. In low light it works great with little noise compared to my old Canon HF200. While the D7000 and other DSLRs can deliver better low-light images, this camera's resolution is otherwise out of this world. The optical qualities of the lens are also impressive. Almost no aberrations and color fringes. Clear image across the field. And above all WIDE ANGLE. Finally there is a camera that doesn't require a flashy and expensive wide angle adapter to get a normal 35mm equivalent field of view. 60 is mandatory. You get a faster speed of 28MB/s, further minimizing the jelly effect. The movements are very smooth and you can slow them down for nice slow motion shots. The only caveat to 30p ultra low light is allowing you to use slower shutter speeds and half the noise. Sound was a point of contention for many. Whoever complains must not have owned a video camera beforehand. Those old motorized video cameras made ten times more noise than this camera. And you should keep in mind that this camera has automatic sound amplification, which means it will be amplified significantly in a quiet room. You can turn it off, use an external mic in your shoes, or just ignore it completely since it's already silent. Don't let that put you off buying this camera. As for the comments that it couldn't last long with a fan, that's just not true. The little fans in these things are accurate and will outlive the camera and its practical convenience. When the fans are gone, we'll probably have 5MP 3D cameras in our phones. Another advantage of this camera is its size. It's not so small that it shakes a lot and fits an adult's hand very well. The weight is right too; not too light to shake a lot but not too heavy to hold for long periods of time. The only disadvantage? LCD! Most other manufacturers have three times the resolution of this one. This is a minor point though and I'm glad Panasonic is going for optical quality more than gimmicks. Many people have problems with 1080 60p recordings. You either need an advanced blueray player that can support this (not sure which one). The PS3 can do this if you follow a few specific steps, but in the long run, the best playback experience is connecting the camera to your TV via HDMI. Then perfect shots. The computer can play it too, but you need one of the newer i5/i7 systems. My OC'd 9450 at 3.2GHz with 8g RAM and two 5770 cards can't do this without dropping frames.
