Suitable for Home, Not Pro, Not Remote, Not for Multiple Simultaneous Streamers

I have installed and configured at least 10 of these routers, mostly remotely, one at home. It's a powerful device with powerful transmitters and low-noise receivers. MIMO works well and you're seeing data rates of 50-100Mbps for the latest iPhones if your ISP supports it, more for laptops and other larger devices with better antennas. Two stars for stability, specifically for remote admin access. Load this pup up with video streamers, and who doesn't have little streamers all over the house, he's going to choke. And when it stalls, you get syslog messages like this: Failed to write to /var/lib/misc/dnsmasq.leases: no free space left on device (try again in 60s) reboot (often a software issue -Dogs ; they bark but don't bite when they need to bite). Once this happens, https and ssh admin remote access will be disabled. The router part more or less still works, but you have no idea what they're doing because you can't see them. Do they issue new DHCP addresses? May be. Probably no. Are they temporarily closed? There is no other way to find out than to drop by in person or ask someone to do it. Not good. I've kept up with the latest updates; I tried Merlin, which I really like, by the way. What to do? I passed 100% with Ubiquiti UDM Pro. Ubiquiti mesh hotspots work great. Easy installation. Unprecedented network visibility and artful presentation of information. Great remote access. More than $$$? Yes, but not much more and worth every penny. Try it, you. you will like it Sure, there's a learning curve, but it's not steep. And you'll thank me any day if you ever find a connection, but that's okay. I'm not here for the fame. Remember, for home use, where the RT-AC68U is right there and is easy to boot from time to time, it's hard to beat. 10-25 different devices online including lots of IoT? That's probably good. Lots of simultaneous streamers? remote location? Consider making a U-turn. you know what i'm talking about

Pros
  • Absolutely Amazing!
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
