The ends of the seams need to be positioned just so, or can be uncomfortable, depending on the shoes. Not much different from most athletic style socks. The black stays decently black. Great construction and overall very comfortable. They are no shows for even my shortest tennis shoes, and are not thin at all! Happy overall, which is why I purchased again, and are now my go tos!
