I've been a firm believer in buying an "official manufacturer" toner cartridge for years. From time to time I've tried replacement cartridges from other manufacturers, but always found that they fell short - usually the depth and quality of large black areas on the page. When I returned to graduate school, we needed to cut costs, which meant flexibility in the choice of toner, among other things. I tried them based on the reviews and the price. Last year we decided to use a different third party cartridge but the last time I needed a replacement it was out of stock. As it turned out, I got lucky because I found my new favorite spare cartridge. it is definitely not "original". However, this is a great performer. Solid deep black on the side. That's what I want and that's what I get. My only two minor disappointments: * They don't last as long as Brother's extra large cartridges, but they also cost a fraction of the RRP, so it's a decent deal. * The toner gauge on my Brother printer sometimes turns on and off right after printing as if it can't tell exactly what's wrong with the cartridge. That's behavior I'm willing to live with given the price. Highly recommended. Mind you, it's a little weird at times, but if you can live with that and be happy with saving 60-70% of the cost of an OEM toner, then this toner is for you.
