Review on 🔁 Renewed Linksys E2500 Advanced Dual-Band Wireless-N Router with Simultaneous Connectivity by John Wells

I bought this for $26.50 to install the Shibby Tomato software and see how well it works. The E2500/Shibby Tomato combo works so well I have installed it in 2 homes and will be adding it to a 3rd home soon. Shibby Tomato can be downloaded from: http://tomato.groov.pl/Special catalog for E2500. found at: http://tomato.groov.pl/download/K26RT-N/ where build5x-vvvv-EN is the directory. vvv=124 for version 124, EN for English version. I downloaded and installed the following: tomato-E2500-NVRAM60K-1.28.RT-N5x-MIPSR2-124-Max.bin Don't worry, this page is in Polish. You can easily navigate in it to get what you need. Installation was easy. On the default firmware, go to Management->Update Firmware tab and select the downloaded Shibby Tomato firmware. Click the "Start Update" button and wait. DO NOT STOP PROCESSING AFTER STARTING OR YOU WILL GET A ROUTER. 2.4GHz and 5GHz wireless will work with Shibby Tomato firmware. You can try to install DD-WRT, but from what I've read the download seems much more complicated, and DD-WRT only supports WiFi on 2.4GHz. I also found that I liked Shibby Tomato's UI more than DD-WRT. I was fortunate enough to purchase these refurbished units. All 3 worked immediately with no problems. One of the units has been in the house for 2 years where it has been in 0 degrees Fahrenheit for most of the winter and it is still working. I know because I deal with it every day. Please don't forget to donate to the Shibby developers. It is they who bring real benefits to this device.
