Review on Hydrating Cream For Face And Neck With Niacinamide And Collagen | LAPCOS Red Anti-Aging Moisturizer (1.69 Fl Oz) | Plump, Nourish, And Treat Fine Lines And Wrinkles by Jason Rawls

Dated Floral Scent; Medium Weight Pale Pink Cream

The LAPCOS Red Collagen Hydrating Cream comes in a bulky, attractive frosted colorless, white, and red 1.69oz plastic jar and retails for $40 as of this writing. The pale pink cream inside is smooth, with a medium weight and good absorption and hydration. However, the dated floral scent lingers and is offputting. It makes me think of something my grandmother, back in the 80s or 90s, would use. The added perfume is entirely unnecessary and ruins the use of the cream, for me. I am highly scent sensitive to the point of headaches and nausea, and I have product-reactive, rosacea-prone skin. So, again, I don't see the point of unnecessary, potentially irritating additives like perfume. While I did not have an adverse topical reaction to this cream, the scent effects my ability to continue using it.Ingredient-wise, there are a lot of skin-suitable humectants, extracts, and oils. The added niacinamide and collagen will balance out the complexion and help to build moisture into the skin - giving the user temporary results, as expected. But when "collagen" (e.g., hydrolyzed, other) is added to a skincare product is a hydration booster. That's about all it will do. Topical applications of collagen are molecularly far too large to replace or repair the lost collagen naturally found within the skin matrix. Our bodies produce less of it as we age, along with hyaluronic acid, elastin, and other vital proteins that help keep our skin looking plump and youthful. Active ingredients (like high percentages of vitamin C and A, like Tretinoin) can stimulate collagen production, but these are not in Lapcos' cream.

Pros
  • Another great thing about this product is that it's gentle enough to use every day, even if you have sensitive skin
Cons
  • Contains sulfates, which can harm the skin barrier
