My 11 year old daughter chose this kit after learning how to do a few stitches. Little did I know that a colored pencil was included to "color" the blank spaces, so instead we decided to make some alternative arrangements that suited our creative pursuits and were simple enough to use for a more ambitious project to inspire. The weave is suitable for beginners and the stitches required are very simple. I don't remember if there is a 'instructions' regarding stitches as she learned with a different set. The color scheme is comfortable for a girl. I'm sure many children younger than my daughter will love this set as well. The kit included everything you need to start hand sewing (except scissors of course).
