Review on Progressive International PL8 1000 Mandoline Slicer by Jody Tibbetts

Revainrating 1 out of 5

No instructions; complex settings; Defective

I was really looking forward to this car because I cut a lot, potatoes, tomatoes, courgettes, whatever. With no instructions (nothing was provided other than a setup brochure) I tried the tomato and it turned out to be a lot. Then I played around with the adjustment knob and slider (yes I pulled the knob out) and tried again with another one and it cut. I found that the knob didn't rotate fully (it didn't reach its maximum thickness). Then I tried to find the user manual on the internet, but to no avail. Just a bunch of commercials where the demonstrator could be a magician with his nimble hands). I learned at least a little, so I finally got to try potatoes. I was able to easily slice thin potato slices (although not thick because the blade wouldn't cut no matter how hard I squeezed). Then I tried the julienne which I think was the highlight of this product. I followed the video "instructions" and got the pieces no matter what I did. Then I noticed that the julienne blades weren't high enough to cut anything. You were useless. I also note that the julienne production pusher was almost impossible to slide, although I did see the tip of the julienne blades extended. From the video I saw that some of these devices should work very well and the protesters probably had a week. Training to show how good the product is. The people who advertised the product here clearly had different experiences. For me it's junk. I received it yesterday and told Revane I want to return it today. The lack of an instruction manual would have sufficed, but after making the effort to familiarize myself with how it worked and realizing that it didn't work as intended, I was tempted to get paid for my wasted time by the manufacturer.

Pros
  • Worth the money
Cons
  • Too long to wait
