These DVDs are more reliable and better quality than branded DVDs at a lower price. (3) Three out of 100 discs failed (or 3%), but 97% of the discs worked fine with no problems in the DVD recorder/player. I used to use name brand drives and their failure rate was 10-15% (too much money spent). I use these discs to capture video from security cameras and the video quality is excellent. I don't understand why the company didn't spend pennies more to put discs on the spindle, but you can make your own spindle with some household items and glue. I give these drives 5 stars because 97% of the drives work fine. I have yet to find a brand that has 100% working discs, but 97% is pretty darn close and good enough for me - VERY RELIABLE DVD!
