I bought these chain mail pliers and use them in combination with a hooked pliers for all my chain mail. A straight chain nose is great because it ends at a narrower point than a curved nose, making it easier to work with in tight spaces or with particularly small rings. I use these ring pliers regularly in sizes 16 through 19. Bending 14 gauge rings with these pliers is a little tricky without damaging the rings and larger pliers will likely do the job. After a long chain run, the limited padding of these pliers will start to mark your fingers so marathon sessions might call for something with extra padding, but I love the control these pliers give me and I think they're almost perfect for my moderate use.
