We did a lot of research before getting a hamster for our daughter and we needed a cage that would give the hamster everything it needed: food and water, entertainment, exercise , enrichment and more everything, place. I've read so many reviews where owners say their hamsters have had their lives cut short, probably because they didn't have enough space to live. This cage was recommended by everyone I spoke to including the pet store. She has a huge open space downstairs that we filled with bedding. Our daughter's Syrian (teddy bear) hamster, Butterfuzz, loves to burrow into the litter and sleep in privacy (it's safe for hamsters to sink completely into the litter). She has so many places to explore, which she does. Butterpoose's favorite spot is the green path, and she often sleeps in a pink domed house (with the door shut with bedding). We put her food in there in the bowl and her water bottle and she uses both all the time. Sleep, eat, drink, sleep during the day. Discover, eat, drink, explore, run (hamster wheel) at dusk/night. She has explored every corner of the cage and keeps walking every night. She climbs the walls, climbs onto the pink upper platform, enters the chimney and climbs into the upper room using the second opening. Lately she's been lugging a pile of bedding and all her food (with stuffed cheeks!) upstairs. She fills the tube with bedding before bed. This cage gives her everything she needs and we believe we have provided her with an amazing and interesting habitat in which to thrive. We look forward to enjoying her full cheeks for a long time to come. This cage looks so fun that everyone who sees it dreams of becoming a hamster and running around in it! Note that she has two openings, one very large in the front for easy cleaning and the other at the top of her penthouse. And also note that it's surprisingly large - fits perfectly on my daughter's dresser.
