First, a quick recap of my experience with CLA in general: I bought CLA for muscle maintenance. I went on an international hike and knew I wouldn't be able to train properly or maintain my protein levels (I'm a vegetarian and I usually try very hard to get enough protein). I think it made me lose a few pounds but I was traveling when I took it and my lifestyle was very different than usual (no gym or weightlifting but lots of walking, gotten sick a few times, irregular meals and new meals - sometimes very unhealthy, sometimes very clean food). So I lost weight when I started taking it, but I've also changed many other aspects of my life. Remarkably, when I lost weight, I somehow retained a decent amount of muscle despite not being able to lift weights for 5 months. Now that I'm back home, I'm back to my normal diet and exercise routine. I've gained about 10 pounds (absolute) in the last 8 months and have returned to a healthy weight after an illness and an odd travel diet. However, I continue to take CLA, and I believe it is largely responsible for maintaining the toned, lean, muscular physique I work hard to achieve. That 10 pounds could be put on my stomach - I traditionally gain belly fat - or on my face as sheer fat, but I just look HEALTHY, not chubby. I don't think my body fat percentage has actually increased! The science behind CLA supports this. The clinical dosage is 3.4 grams of CLA per day (CLA specifically, so calculate the required number of capsules based on the percentage of CLA per 1000 mg softgel). I've also noticed that it gives me energy, so I try not to take it at night. Now for the Swanson CLA review: This is one of the cheapest sources of CLA. This is a great deal, a Swanson product so you know the quality and CLA concentration per 1000mg softgel is the highest I have seen (80%).
