Not very functional

My computer is on a wooden desk with the remote for this mouse plugged in beneath. Other cordless mouses (mice?) that I've used in the past worked fine, but this one seems not to be able to get the info it needs through the desk. Every time you click on something, you get a drop-down menu instead of getting what was clicked--very frustrating. Also, it's so flat that I didn't find it comfortable to use.
