The ear cushions and headphone mount on my old DT770 Pro lasted for about two years before giving out (the most interesting thing is that they lose their appearance, but become much softer and more comfortable to fit). The ear pads on the new 700s are instantly comfortable, but the squeezing action is still present. For instance, the Sennheiser HD660S have a more snug fit, are nearly undetectable, and allow for all-day comfort in a single sitting. Yet, the new 700s are more comfortable to wear than the 770s. through listening. The headphones have no bias. The 770 offers good bass and a glitter at higher frequencies that can be a little too much for some songs. The 700s have a more even frequency response, with slightly altered bass and reduced highs. The quality was unimpressive at first, but after some "warm-up" time (in the mind rather than the headphones), the sound improved greatly. They sound different, have an open design, and stand on their own, making direct comparisons to HD660s impossible. Because of this, I think these are great headphones, a significant improvement over the 770x in every respect.
