I bought this for my new rescue dog. We live in Michigan where the summers are hot and humid and you typically sweat while sitting still from June through September. I don't need a cooling pad to put on ice packs - I work full time and my pup is home alone in a house with no air while I earn money to buy her nice stuff. I was positively surprised! My friend thought I was crazy because she didn't need another dog bed (she already had 2) but it actually helps her stay calm and once she gets used to it she will love it! After spending a few minutes doing this, her stomach or side would become pleasantly cold. If it's very hot, we'll even lie on it for a few minutes before she pushes us off! UPDATE 5/2019 - This cooling mat lasted 2 summers with us, which is very good for the price. It eventually started leaking and had to be thrown out, but it kept Molly quite cool without air conditioning for two years. Just ordered another one of these as we start another summer season with no air conditioning in most of the house. This time I got the hard gel version, it's a bit more expensive but has better reviews than the liquid version. All in all worth the price!
