I recently had tarsarraphism, a long term eyelid brace to protect my cornea from severe keratitis and allow corneal ulcers to heal. My eye doctor wants the stitches covered with a sterile eye patch for a period (2 to 4 months) while the tarsorrhaphy is in place. The problem is that the adhesive on the tapes - I've tried them all - is very hard on my skin. This 3D eye patch looked very large in the picture so I was wondering if it would be large enough to hold the sterile patch securely in place and negate the constant use of tape. And it works great! It holds the pad securely but doesn't press on the seams. It doesn't get in the way of my glasses and the shape of the patch also acts as a shield so I don't chafe my stitches when I sleep. So I don't have to wear metal eye protection when sleeping, this eye patch takes care of that. It's very soft and comfortable. Some reviewers have pointed out that the bandage lets light through the bridge of the nose, but that's not a problem for me as the stitches completely isolate the eye from light or irritants. While it works for what I need it for, be aware that this is a very large eye patch, larger than any patch I've seen. If I didn't need a patch that big, I might want a smaller one.
