Review on HIYILL- 18R/HD5 Universal Ceiling Fan Remote Control Replacement - Compatible with Hampton Bay UC7078T CHQ7078T by Jim Bijelic

Absolutely normal. Wish you could buy a second remote control.

I was looking for a wireless remote control to replace my previous one which gave up the ghost after ten years. I wanted the remote to be mounted on the wall by the door and the other to be placed on the nightstand by the bed. I contacted another seller of an identical product and asked if I could purchase a dual remote receiver. They said they would be happy to sell me a receiver and two remotes for a price well above the cost of two complete units. I wasn't impressed. I ordered two of these devices to have two remote controls. I removed the old receiver and tried to install a new one. I got there, but it was a real struggle. It's big enough that it and the wiring are extremely difficult to squeeze into the fan base and hang the fan back from the ceiling. I had the previous remote. It turns the light on and off instantly, instead of going through a dimming cycle like the old remote every time you want to turn the light off. I also like having direct access to fan speeds instead of having to toggle between them with just one button and never knowing for sure which speed you chose which made you wait to see if you were happy with the result and then which hold the button down again in hopes of reaching the desired speed. As many have written in their reviews, it seems impossible to get the dimming feature to work. I never use this feature so I don't care. I would give five stars if the receiver design was smaller and easier to install. There is an oddity about turning off the fan. I turn on the fan at night when I sleep and often turn off the fan in the dark. I often have a short flashing fan light when I press the fan off button. I don't care but the design seems flimsy.
