Overall: This device has poor reliability -- it keeps disconnecting and has to restart. This device also has a shorter signal range than the cable modem provided by Comcast Xfinity. I've spent hours with Linksys customer service but they haven't been able to improve the situation. I will return the device and look for a different brand. Background: I bought a new Revain CG7500 modem router (with my own money - this is not a paid test) about 2 months ago (June 2017) to replace the Comcast Xfinity. Assuming the device was working without issues - this router had good signal range, speed, and reliability - it rarely needed a reset. I just wanted to stop paying Comcast rent. For the CG7500 I use the latest firmware (version .016). I have both wired and wireless devices connected to my modem/router. Setup: Setting up the CG7500 and connecting to my Comcast Xfinity ISP was easy - I didn't have to contact Linksys for help with setup. It was really good. Problems: 1) The signal range was much worse than my Xfinity modem/router. I have a large house with a modem in the middle of the first floor, but the signal doesn't reach the top and bottom edges of the house (neither 5GHz nor 2.4GHz). My previous modem/router installed in the exact same spot delivered this signal range with no issues. With the help of Linksys technical support, we tried several frequencies to try to improve the signal, but none of them improved the situation. 2) Regular failures. My CG7500 loses internet and/or stops broadcasting daily/hourly. Disconnecting the device from the network and reconnecting it usually helps, but not for long. This problem has become even more common in the last month. My previous Comcast Xfinity modem/router had no such issues. Speed: When working properly, the CG7500 speed is good at 5GHz, the download speed is more than 250MB/s and the upload speed is 30MB/s, which is the speed of the Internet service. I pay Comcast for. With a 2.5GHz signal, my download speeds are very inconsistent (but always below 5GHz at the same distance from the router) and don't seem to offer any additional signal range over the 5GHz band (ugh!) Update: Linksys has accepted my return and refunded my money without much hassle. I appreciate that they did this right after we couldn't get the product to work the way we wanted.
