What I like about this device is that you can connect more than 1 USB device to Surface Pro (I have 6). However, there is a caveat: if you connect more than one external drive, it will start connecting/disconnecting repeatedly. This can limit the power available from the Surface Pro power adapter. I can live with that as long as I can plug in an external drive, maybe a USB mouse and maybe a thumb drive. However, I have found that some USB devices have connection issues, particularly with plastic USB connectors (like some thumb drives). If the USB connector is metal, you're less likely to have problems - just don't expect to be able to connect any "power-hungry" USB devices. SD card ports work fine. I haven't tried the HDMI port yet, but I think it will work fine. The above is my experience, others may have no problems at all. As for me, I would buy it again, overall the material is really well made and compact. When I get the rest of my "plastic USB sticks" working, I'll be happy to revise my rating to 5 stars. Thanks 2/6/2020Update: Wanted to change my rating to 5 stars. I tried the HDMI connection and I am very happy with the number of USB devices that can be connected at the same time. It's okay with the world.
