I live in an area where the water supply (community) is poor to say the least. The water smells like fish, has a lot of chlorine and is quite hard (23 ppm hardness). Since moving into our home three years ago, my entire family found the water undrinkable until I installed this 3-stage water filter and water softener. This filtration system does a great job of eliminating odors and tastes that used to make me feel like I'd just had a glass of pond water, and the softener solves the hardness problem. At the moment I'm just interested in how often I have to change cartridges. If I had to do this more than once a year I would think it is more of an indicator of how awful the water is than any issues with this product.
